SAFETY ON THE INTERNET
January 17, 2010
With advances in computer technology, you can do almost anything that you want on your personal computer. Unfortunately, the criminal element is taking advantage of these advances to get personal information from us, to hassle us with e-mails contaminated with viruses, to try to get our money fraudulently, etc.

Unfortunately, the criminal element is taking advantage of these advances to get personal information from us, to hassle us with e-mails contaminated with viruses, to try to get our money fraudulently, etc.
I do my best to keep my internet experience as confidential as possible and I try to safeguard my personal information. I dislike "junk-mail" and if your email address gets out there, you can begin receiving SPAM for everything from soup to nuts.
Recently, I joined one of the many social networking clubs to share photos, etc. Registering for this required some minimal personal information, which I supplied without thinking. I should have known better.
Later, while on the internet, I "Googled" my own name just for fun. I was shocked that the information I provided to the internet club was available for anyone on the internet to see. I was very irritated about this and attempted to get my information removed. (Of course, if someone got my information before it was removed, it would be something like un-ringing a bell to take off the information after the fact!
Anyway, I just want all of you to be careful while using your computer, especially while on the internet and do your best to protect your personal information.
Rather than go into the specifics myself, I am going to refer you to a website that has some good ideas to help you protect your information while on the internet.
Check out the following website for more information about internet safety. Go to: Internet Safety.
Wishing you all the best with your internet experience! Stay safe! After checking out the website, please drop me a line to let me know what you thought. Also, please feel free to share any personal experiences you have had regarding internet safety or related topics. Thank you for your support! Your Webmaster,
