• CRAFTS BY FLOYD

- Crafts by Floyd -

I am very pleased that Floyd Baird gave me permission to photograph him and some of his masterpieces earlier this month (12/08).  Floyd lives two doors down from me in Section D.   Recently, I saw him coming down the hall of our building carrying his latest finished product: the bautiful convertible auto that he his holding below.

Those of you who spend much time in the Creative Arts Center will probably know Floyd as he spends a lot of time there practicing his masterful art.  He tells me that he has received no formal training - he has picked up his skill by practicing and teaching himself.

Several of his pieces of art are displayed in the photos below.  During the editing and downloading of these photos, a number of questions came to me about Floyd and his work.  I am hoping to get some additional information from Floyd and expand this section in the near future.  In
the meantime, may I present Floyd and some of his work:

Self-taught crafts Master, Floyd Baird, holds this
beautiful convertible that he recently finished in
the Creative Arts Center here at the Veterans' Home
.

Check out the beauty and detail in this car, and
the skill that it took to produce it.

Similar detail and skill are seen in this horse-driven
wagon carrying logs.

I keep repeating myself, but I am amazed at the
detail and meticulous workmanship in Floyd's
crafts shown yet again in this steam engine.

You can almost hear the siren and bell of this
old fire engine!

Another shot of that wonderous automobile!

An interesting "conglomeration!"  While it is a bit
hard to tell, this photo shows several pieces of Floyd's
art placed closely together on a table top.  If you look
closely, you can see the individual pieces.

Well, it is "time" to go for now.  Yes, Floyd constructed
this beautiful clock as well ... and the horse on top, too!  What talent!

Thank you, Floyd, for sharing your beautiful
art and craft work with us.

If you get a chance, check out the Creative Arts Center
if you don't go there already.  If you see Floyd, I am guessing he will show you some of his work in progress and he may even give you some tips to make your work easier.
