• The "MEAL DEAL" Page

Dear Blurbers:
A number of you have asked me to start a food page listing reasonable establishments in
Yountville were food may be purchased.  Those of you who have been here for a while know
that this is a hard task since finding "cheap" food in Yountville is almost impossible!  May
I ask all of you who eat in Yountville to please e-mail me if you find food for reasonable
prices in Yountville.  I have been told that some establishemtns will offer complimentary
discounts to Veterans.

With your assistance, I will try to add more details, including prices to the following list
as the info becomes available.  With the help of some of you, especially Fred Johnson (who
happens to be my roommate), I am pleased to list the following recommendations:
(These are in no particular order.)

♦♣•The "Taco Truck" parked behind Pancha's at 6764 Washington St.  By the way,
I hear that Pancha's has a great price on beer.

<><><><><><><><>
Pacific Blue Cafe at 6525 Washington St.  Offers 10% discount to Veterans.
<><><><><><><><>
Brix - at 7377 St. Helena Hwy. offers 50% off beverages & food from the Bar
menu served at the bar during happy hour (4-6 pm, M - F).  I have been there
myself and the food is excellent!  Highly recommend!
<><><><><><><><>
Cuvee Restaurant (Napa) - 1650 Soscol Ave., Napa, Ph. 224-2330.  Beverages
and Food from the Appetizer Menu are 50% off during Happy Hour (4 pm - 7 pm).
(Thank you Fred Johnson for finding this one!)
<><><><><><><><>
The Red Hen Cantina -
4175 Solano Ave., Happy-hour (Starts at 3 pm).  Seniors
Discount Menu offered Mon - Fri (EXCEPT Holidays).  Watch for 2-for-1 coupons in the
paper.  Great Margaritas!
<><><><><><><><>
The Bouchon Bakery - at 6528 Washington St.  I list this not for discounts, but for
being a truly great bakery.  If you enjoy really good bakery goods, check out
The
Bouchon Bakery.
<><><><><><><><>
• Compadres - at 505 Lincoln Ave. in Napa.  For those of you who have been around
for awhile, you will recall that Compadres used to be located right here in Yountville.
It is much missed!  However, if you want to go to Napa, they still offer Margaritas,
well drinks, wine and beer for $2.00 for Veterans.  Remember to take your Blue Card.

French Laundry - at 6640 Washington St. is listed here for fun.  Those who have lived
here for a while will know why.  It is an extremely expensive restaurant and I have read
reviews ranging from the most excellent to mediocre.  Since I have not eaten there (and
don't plan to do so), I can only give you the reviews.  The factor which prevents me from
eating at the French Laundry is the price.  You see, with wine, I am told that you can
expect to pay about $700.00 for two. (No, that is not a typo! :)

This is all that I have so far, but with your help, I know this section will grow.  If you are
out and about in Yountville, you might just stop in and ask a restaurant that looks good
if they will offer a discount for Vets.  I have actually been told about others who do offer
discounts, but I wasn't doing the website at the time and I didn't pay that much
attention to the discounts out there.

Ejnoy the "eats" and remember to let me know what you find out there.  I look forward
to hearing from you.
